The Light in The Dark
In the first concert of our 2024-2025 season, prepare to be transported into the musical world of light and shadows! All three of our performing ensembles will explore a wide variety of contrasting music centered around the themes of night, darkness, and the light within.
Our youngest ensemble, CANTILENA, will shine their light bright at their first concert! For many of them. this will be their first time on stage in Cantare Green!
Our middle ensemble, CANTIGA, will explore the spooky sides of shadows with their usual energy and dramatic storytelling! We've pulled out some Cantiga favourites for this concert, like the beautiful two-part I SEE THE MOON by Douglas Beam- This generation of Cantigas has fallen in love with it all over again!
CANTARÉ, our senior ensemble, will explore moving stories of the night throughout history around the world. Cantare has had an expansive fall term, including a deep dive into four works by the great Johann Sebastian Bach which will build the foundation for their historical education throughout the year. This main course will be supplemented by a journey into the night including luscious settings of bedtime stories, and a deep look into the night sky.
Scandanavian Sámi peoples. This summer, Cantare got to learn lots about Sámi JOIK singing from the World Youth Choir, we are excited for them to continue that learning journey with their performance of Sámi joiker Frode Fjelheim's NIGHT YOIK
Cantaré Presents: On The Edge
Join Cantaré, our senior ensemble, for their season-end performance! This round-the-world journey will bring all of the music our choristers have learned throughout this year to the stage for a triumphant celebration of a wonderful year together!

This holiday season, Cantare Children's Choir is thrilled to present a captivating performance that perfectly captures the essence of the Winter holidays.
